DOUBLE PACK: BOAT TRIP ON THE TAJO RIVER PLUS WALKING TOUR OF BELÉM.
We will meet at the indicated time at Praça do Comerço and from there we will go to the pier to take the covered (if you are cold) and semi-covered (if you like photography) boat that will take us to Belém.
For 1 hour, we will enjoy the views of Lisbon from the water and, most interestingly, the Belém district, where you will have an interesting and different perspective, compared to land, of the great monuments of Lisbon that were built facing the sea.
In addition, we will pass under the 25 April Bridge, which will allow us to observe the structure of the longest suspension bridge in Europe from below. We will continue our journey and approach the Cristo Rey, which will welcome us with open arms on the other side of the river.
As we make our way along the Tajo we will enjoy the sights offered by the Lisbon Museum of Architecture, Art and Technology, located on the banks of the river in the former Central Tejo steam factory. As we approach Belém, we will discover monuments such as the Padrao de los Descubrimientos, a 52-metre high monolith in the shape of a caravel on which we can see 33 statues representing the Age of Discoveries. And the photographed Belém Tower, a former military building declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1983.
We will disembark next to the Belem Palace, residence of the President of the Republic. After getting to know the introductory details of the neighbourhood, we will arrive at the famous Belém pastry shop, where they serve the famous original cream cakes. We will take a tour of the surrounding area, passing by the Jerónimos Monastery, one of Lisbon’s most famous monuments, and entering its church. You can visit the interior every day except Mondays, when it is closed.
We will cross the Plaza del Imperio to reach the famous Rosa de los Vientos (Wind Rose) and understand all about the journeys of the Portuguese between the 16th and the 20th century. XV – XVI. We will talk about the Portuguese colonies of the Great Empire and all the characters who participated in achieving it.
We will finish the tour outside the famous Belém Tower.
